The sacred ear-piercing ceremony (Karnavedha) — one of the sixteen sanskaras — performed for a child with prayers for health, wisdom and protection.
Performed by Certified Gurukul Scholars
Karna Ved (Karnavedha Sanskar) is the traditional Hindu ear-piercing rite, counted among the shodasha (sixteen) sanskaras that mark a person's life. The ears are pierced at an auspicious time amid prayers and chanting. Beyond custom and jewellery, the tradition holds spiritual and Ayurvedic significance — it is believed to support a child's wellbeing, concentration and growth, and to connect them to family and cultural heritage.
Families perform it to perform a cherished sanskar for their child; For the wellbeing and protection the tradition is believed to bring; honour Ayurvedic/cultural beliefs around the ears and health.
Karna Ved is Muhurta-driven and age-sensitive — an auspicious day is chosen, traditionally in the child's infancy or an odd-numbered year of age. The right Muhurta is recommended during the free consultation; a few days' lead time helps with arrangements.
