A Shradh ceremony to honour departed ancestors — offering Pind Daan and Tarpan so their souls find peace and their blessings flow to the family.
Performed by Certified Gurukul Scholars
Pitra Pujan, performed as the Shradh ritual, pays homage to the family's departed ancestors (pitr). Through Pind Daan (the offering of rice balls) and Tarpan (water offerings), it seeks to give peace to the ancestors' souls, relieve Pitra Dosh, and draw their blessings and grace over the living family. It is most often observed during Pitru Paksha, the fortnight dedicated to the ancestors.
Families perform it to honour and give peace to departed ancestors; relieve Pitra Dosh believed to affect the family; seek the blessings and grace of the ancestors.
Pitra Pujan is most often performed during Pitru Paksha (the ancestral fortnight in the Krishna Paksha of Ashwin) or on an ancestor's tithi; the right day is recommended during the consultation. A few days' lead time helps with Samagri sourcing.
